CHI and CPI inspectors are certified by ASTTBC – one of the largest professional associations in BC. The Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC has 9,500+ members in many fields relating to applied science and engineering technology.

ASTTBC is a self-governing professional association incorporated under the ASTT Act. With over 50 years as a professional association you can rely on ASTTBC members to protect the public interest.

British Columbia Institute of Technology

BCIT offers a series of courses in the house and property inspection field that meet the academic requirements of Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC (ASTTBC) for their Certified House Inspector (CHI) and Certified Property Inspector (CPI) designations. A final grade of 70 percent in each course is required by ASTTBC.

 

Okanagan College

Okanagan College offers a home inspection certificate program that combines theoretical instruction with field training to provide participants with a thorough foundation for pursuing work in the area of home inspection.  This program meets the academic requirements of Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC (ASTTBC) for their Certified House Inspector (CHI) and Certified Property Inspector (CPI) designations. A final grade of 70 percent in each course is required by ASTTBC.

 

Western Pacific Property Inspection Institute

The series of new inspection courses on the topics of building envelope, strata depreciation, and commercial inspection that are outlined in the Property Inspection Certification Policy - 2013 are being offered through a new private education institute, the Western Pacific Property Inspection Institute. These courses meet the academic requirements of the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC (ASTTBC) for their Certified House Inspector (CHI), Certified Property Inspector (CPI) and Registered Reserve Fund Analyst (RRFA) designations. A final grade of 70 percent in each course is required by ASTTBC.

Students will have the flexibility to take courses from anywhere in the Province of BC or beyond, while still continuing to work and live in their home communities.
   

DISTANCE LEARNING PROVIDER:

Carson Dunlop

ASTTBC does recognize the entire Carson Dunlop Home Study Program as meeting part of the required courses – House Inspection 1, 2 & 3.

Part 9 of the BC Building Code, House Inspection 4 (the Field Inspection course) the Building Envelope Course and the Asbestos training are also required. The Building Code course may be taken by correspondence and a mentorship with an ASTTBC-PI certified inspector meets the equivalency of House Inspection 4.
